Mindfulness - work life balance

'It seems that often when problems arise, our outlook becomes narrow.' - Dalai Lama

Most people would agree the world has become an increasingly stressful place. As greater demands are made on us at work, we can find that what started as healthy motivating pressure can lead to debilitating anxiety, depression and stress. We all experience challenging life events from time to time, such as loss, bereavement or family relationship difficulties. Even though life challenges often don't occur in the workplace, their effects can seep through into our work causing loss of concentration, irritability and reduced productivity.

The benefits of employee assistance counselling are known to include stress reduction, stability in mood, general wellbeing and improved relationships. Evidence also shows that counselling is a cost effective way of providing timely support for employees, so that problems can be managed before they trigger illness and subsequence absence.

The Waterloo Wellbeing Centre offers employee assistance counselling services and runs courses in mindfulness-based cognitive therapy for stress reduction in conjunction with insurers and businesses, large and small. The Centre can provide a bespoke employee assistance programme flexibly adaptable to the developing needs of your business.

The approach taken is tailored to the particular needs of the person referred, but typically, working within a time limited contract, involves short term solution focused counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy and Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy approaches.

Assessments, regular therapy/counselling, progress reviews and regular liaison with EAP company consultants are offered.

In twelve years of providing therapy and counselling for EAPs, Julie Jeffs, the director of Psychotherapy Plymouth and co-founder of the Waterloo Wellbeing Centre has worked within contracts from the following organisations: BUPA, AXA PPC, Aviva, Advent Solutions, Ceridian and PPC Worldwide.

We would be happy to discuss with you the particular requirements of your business and how we might tailor a programme to suit.
